Stress Awareness Week from November 2 to November 6 is more important than ever in a year that has been described as the most stressful on record in the UK.
The Office of National Statistics reports that Britons are currently more stressed than ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The report revealed that over three quarters (76%) of the UK are currently experiencing stress due to the physical, financial and mental health impact caused by the pandemic.
Stress can take its toll on our body and skin so, to raise awareness of the current situation, and in an attempt to help the nation in these testing times, YouTube and social media darlings, Oli White and Evie Marcer, are sharing their top tips on how to deal with the physical effects of stress.
Oli and Evie’s top tricks and tips to help de-stress this International Stress Awareness Week:
Focus your attention and eliminate the thoughts, issues, problems that may be crowding your mind and causing stress. Meditation can create a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind. It can also help with both physical and mental wellbeing.
Take some quiet time for yourself, away from the stresses of day-to-day life. Find a comfortable space at home – maybe the sofa or bed – dim the lights and just ‘chill’. Maybe add some calming music and some candles or essential oils to help relieve stress.
Prescription medications for stress and anxiety can cause side effects, leading more and more people to turn to holistic treatment methods. CBD is a regulator and attaches cannabinoids to our body’s Endocannabinoid systems receptors (a complex system found in all human beings) which maintain our health and wellbeing. This system is involved in regulating many of our bodies regular daily functions from mood to mobility, pain, inflammation, immune system, focus/attention capacity and our cellular communication and health.
Massage therapy can help to reduce tension and promote feelings of calm and deep relaxation. It can also curb feelings of fear and anxiety. As well as relieving muscle pain and tension and improving circulation and flexibility, a good massage can help the body relax, helping you let go of anxious and fearful thoughts.
Stress causes the muscles of the body to contract. A hot bath can relieve those symptoms and keep the muscles loose, with a relaxed body helping create a relaxed mind. Baths can be accentuated by adding the likes of bath salts or essential oils to help kick that stress to the curb.
